It is really possible that the Senate is about to vote to lift the ban on granting permanent residency status HIV-positive people? The annual cost of treating one AIDS case in the United States is about $100,0000. Permanent residents of course qualify for Medicaid, so this vote could impose heavy costs on the taxpayer.
